With a discerning eye for detail, the super model Liya Kebede, designer and founder of LemLem, transports us back to Palm Beach, Biarritz or Capri in the seventies.
Colors and shapes reflect this era and relaxed attitude. Crisp nautical lines in sun faded reds, blues and navies sit next to eccentric, vibrant stripes. Shapes are simple, playful and chic and will take you from lazy sunlit mornings, through lunch with friends, to après beach evenings, all with ease and style.
Every thread has a backstory. . .
In 2007, Ethiopian born Supermodel, Liya Kebede started LemLem ( which means to flourish or bloom in Amharic) in an effort to preserve the ancient craft of weaving. She discovered that traditional weavers in her native country of Ethiopia were losing their jobs due to a decline in local demand and earnestly wanted to do something about it.
What started out as a small collection of scarves, all handwoven in Ethopia has since expanded to tunics, maxi dresses, shoes, pants, and home and children’s lines.
