Finally, Paris

If you’ve ever heard me babble about hobbies or interests, there’s no way Paris wouldn’t have come up. I was that much into the idea of it. If you ask me now, I’m not quite sure what caught my interest, probably the stories and the deluge of photos of tourist attractions like the tour eiffel and then, all other youthful fantasies in between.

Now, Paris was not planned. At all. My father literally just came up one day and was like “Hey, we’re going to Paris tomorrow.” So casually, the way he delivered the news.

Then I freaked out and next thing I’m screaming like a retard and the next day I’m in Paris. No chill, whatsoever.

It was summer, so the weather was on the cold side of perfect: Sunny with a blend of cool air.  As opposed to the usual, I wasn’t instantly blown away, I didn’t initially drown in awe or amazement, and I didn’t find love.

What was the thrill then?

Being on tourist mode, it’s the chilliest on the spectrum. Comfortable clothing all round, walking(on a regular), taking pictures (till your battery gives up), getting lost, adapting sign language to ask questions and directions, practicing struggle french, understanding how maps work, visiting places, climbing ridiculous number of staircases, exploring, experiencing and just generally having a good time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I fell in love with

The weather: Give me a sunny atmosphere with air cool enough to keep the sweat at bay, and I’ll go with it.

The navigation system: It’s a weird thing to love, but I’m a bit obsessed with organization. I like things set up neatly,  and if I need to find something, I want to be able to do so without stress. Finding our way around might have been a bit confusing while we still struggled to understand the system, but once we got to, things became a lot easier.

The Buildings: I came to realize that most European buildings look alike, but that doesn’t deter my admiration for the ancient architecture. Think about buildings that have been standing strong for 100years+, and you might understand why I find them intriguing.

The Sidewalk restaurants and stores: This made up the best parts of our long walks, partly because i’m a chronic window-shopaholic and an upcoming foodie.

 

I should mention that I wasn’t lucky enough to catch all the best parts of the city, like night life, Pont de l’Archeveche and the Grand Louvre Museum. But I did visit the Eiffel Tower (climbed the stairs all the way to the top, btw) and Arc De Triomphe . These are amazing architectures with great views of the city  and interesting history.  So regardless of the parts I missed, I had amazing time.
